SuperSport United's Bradley Grobler is determined to stay injury-free and compete for Golden Boot award

Grobler has had his progress hampered by two surgeries in as many years.

He has scored three goals so far this season, in the MTN8 two-legged semi-final against Kaizer Chiefs, and he is hoping to carry on where he left off when Matsatsantsa take on another Soweto giant in Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night. The Absa Premiership clash will kick off at 20h15.

“A lot of people ask me what my goals are for the season, but for me personally it’s just to stay injury-free and give myself the best possible chance of playing as many games as I can and helping the team. So it was good to get my first goals of the season [against Chiefs] after my operation,” Grobler tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“Now the pressure is on me to keep that up and to keep going.”

Staying injury-free means he’d have an opportunity to battle it out for the Golden Boot award.

“It’s been very difficult in the last two seasons, especially a couple of years ago when Stuart [Baxter] came to the team. I was really starting to enjoy my football again and then the injuries would come. I would like to think if I could finish a full season I would compete for the Golden Boot.”
