The future of former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Phakamani Mahlambi remains uncertain after ending an assessment spell at SuperSport United.

Mahlambi had been training with former coach Gavin Hunt's side to maintain his fitness while aiming to secure a permanent deal over recent weeks.

Mahlambi departed Sundowns at the end of last season following an unsuccessful spell beset by injury.

The Kwazulu Natal-born striker spent a loan period at fellow DStv Premiership side Chippa United last season.

"Phakamani is no longer training with us," a source at SuperSport United tells KickOff.

"Wayde Jooste is still here, and so far is looking good at training.

Jooste is likewise also a free agent since parting ways with Orlando Pirates.

SuperSport United have meanwhile signed fellow Buccaneers Siphelele Ndlovu on loan.
