Veteran Dillon Sheppard to play another season with BidVest Wits

The 37-year-old will be the oldest player in the top-flight and had toyed with hanging up his boots to concentrate on coaching.

Gavin Hunt told snl24.com/kickoff at the end of last season he felt Sheppard could play another season if he had the desire, and CEO Jose Ferreira has now confirmed he will continue.

Hunt first worked with Sheppard at Seven Stars some 21 years ago when the then winger was 16, and he has gone on to have a stellar career.

Wits are his seventh Premier Soccer League club, with others including Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns, while he also had brief spells in Russia and Greece.

Sheppard made six appearances last season, but gives Hunt versatility in being able to play in defence or midfield.
