Pirates are closer to winning their first Absa Premiership title in seven years than they have been in recent years, and one would imagine there to be plenty of anxiety in the camp.
However, with a couple of stars having recently experienced those finals steps towards the coveted domestic prize, such characters can play a key role in the dressing room.
One such character is Pule, who helped Bidvest Wits to their maiden championship in the club’s history in 2016/17, and he has already emphasised the importance of focussing on their own race.
“We just have to focus on us and do better in each game, making sure we get our goals and collect points from the remaining games,” Pule tells KickOff.com.
“We can’t focus on other teams [in the title race], or we might forget about what we have to do. If we just go about our business, I’m confident everything will fall into place.”
Being so close to a second title in such a short space of time also has personal meaning to the 27-year-old winger, who has contributed six goals in the current campaign, and he admits it would be an extremely special moment not only for him but the club as a whole.
“It would be emotional to win another title with Pirates, after coming from winning the league with another team [just two seasons ago],” he says.
“It’s something special for any player, and I think it will not only mean a lot to me but for everyone at the club, because it’s been a while since the team has won something.”
