The success of World Cup favourites Brazil will be determined by the choices that their coach Tite makes in his selection of his team.

This is according to retired Brazilian defender Vinicius da Silva – who played in the PSL for Moroka Swallows in the two prior to the 2010 World Cup and scored the winner in the 2009 Nedbank Cup final.

Richarlison, Neymar, Raphinha, Gabriel Jesus, Antony, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Pedro, Gabriel Martinelli make up the nine options that Tite after choosing not to select Roberto Firmino.

"As Brazil, I think we have a good chance in this World Cup just like we always do with every World Cup that we go to," Da Silva tells from Brazil.

"The headache for Brazil is that we have too many attacking options and Tite must come up with a solution of using any of Vini, Raphinha, Neymar or Martinelli playing from the wing with a center-forward or using Neymar from midfield with two in front of him.

"Then from the bench, we have effective options as well because some teams will play a defensive scheme against us.

"How Tite plans the attack is what will make the difference for us considering all the options that we have.

"At the back, we are also strong with Thiago Silva and Marquinhos, but my worry is high balls that Serbia will play.

"Casemiro gives us that protection even with the high balls, so I think Brazil has a great chance to win this one," says Da Silva.

Brazil will be feeling the weight of expectations on their shoulders having last lifted the World Cup in 2002.

"This time we must think as a team and our coach Tite is intelligent and knows all the players who he has worked with through building this team since 2016.

"I think he has found the best approach and the players like him in the same way they respect him in his thoughts and style of play.

"He is also a good people’s manager in that he can manage the guys very well, so this is good for the sake of the team’s bond.

"Tite has just about all his players in top leagues in Europe and they can decide games at any time like Neymar, Vinicius, and Raphinha so the team is very strong.

"The players love each other, and all want to play and respect each other.

"On the other side, there are other teams who are at a good level like England, Uruguay, Argentina, and France even though they are minus some players and can keep the title.

"It is difficult to make a prediction because this is about the mindset and in my opinion, Brazil is in a good space.

"I don’t see us having any problems in the group stages but once the knockout stages start then it will be interesting," says Da Silva.
