Pirates are faced with seven games remaining in their campaign and currently trail log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by three points.
However, with Sundowns still vested in the CAF Champions League knockout phase and The Buccaneers having bowed out, it could be to their advantage as they turn all their focus to the domestic championship.
Sandilands certainly believes improvement with each game and going on a neat little streak of victories could augur well for their bid for a first league title in seven years.
“We’ve got to minimise the errors we’re making and try and be a bit more clinical [in front of goal]. So, basically, we’ve just got to improve,” the three-time league winner tells snl24.com/kickoff.
“We’ve got a lot of stuff to improve on, we’ve got to look to be a bit better in each game and hopefully we can just go on a run, like gaining momentum.
“I think that’s what it’s going to boil down to – the team that gathers momentum now in these last games is obviously going to put themselves in a good position.
“Maybe during the FIFA break we can get back to the drawing board, as they day, and just make that final push for the league [afterwards].”
Pirates are scheduled to face Black Leopards at the Orlando Stadium next Friday - kick-off at 20h15.
