Baroka FC coach Wedson Nyirenda expressed his happiness about the performance of midfielder Thandanani Ntshumayelo during the league match against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Ntshumayelo made his long-awaited debut in the colours of Bakgaga when his new club were beaten 2-1 by Sundowns at home in Polokwane last Saturday.

'Bibo' has not played football for almost three years after being banned from football for using a banned substance a few years ago.

Ntshumayelo came on as a second-half substitute but could save his team from a defeat.

"We needed to see him. He has been training well. He has been showing good leadership on the pitch and so this was a game for him," said Nyirenda.

"Obviously there will be a game that he will start, but this was a game for him [to get his first run]. He is a senior player, he has been controlling things during training games that we have been playing.

"We thought he would be better to do the job even though he was not much of himself because you have to understand he didn't play official football for a long time. We just have to support him."
