While the goal drought was finally broken by Mamelodi Sundowns, Maritzburg United and Cape Town City on Tuesday evening, there remains a widespread concern of the poor standard of finishing in the PSL.
The Brazilians were rampant in their 4-0 thrashing of Baroka, while the Team of Choice broke am eight-game goal drought with their 4-2 win over The Citizens, but Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United remained wasteful in front of goal.
Prior to these fixtures, the Absa Premiership saw just seven wins in 20 fixtures during the month of November, with six more of those ending in goalless stalemates.
Meanwhile, Chiefs have drawn their last four consecutive league matches and failed to score in three of them, but Katsande argues that their defensive department deserves plaudits.
"As much as we want to blame the strikers, we also need to give compliments to the defenders because, even in international football, games are decided by small margins," said Katsande.
"If you pay attention to your defence, the more you keep clean sheets and the higher your chances are of getting such [goalless] draws.
"Football has become a business whereby everyone doesn't want to lose, everyone doesn't want to be relegated and everyone wants to win something.
"So the strikers are doing there jobs but the defenders and the goalkeepers also need to get credit."
The Zimbabwe international also concedes that PSL strikers need to up their game, and show more hunger and determination to take even half-chances in front of goal.
"In my opinion, I think the league is competitive. Like I said, it's become a business. I can say the defensive side of the league is improving but the strikers need to maybe put in more hard work," he added.
"If they are putting 100 percent, they need to put 200 percent because they are the ones who affect the game – their individual brilliance can change the complexion of the game, and everyone relies on them.
"They need to work as hard as possible, because if you see Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, they are the difference. Sometimes Ronaldo cannot play well for 90 minutes, but if you give him a half-chance he scores and the team wins 1-0.
"Our strikers need to develop that same hunger, dedication and work ethic."
Amakhosi next visit Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday evening, with kick-off set for 19H30.
