Kaizer Chiefs defender Yagan Sasman has lifted the lid on how his move to Naturena came about after he was discarded by Ajax Cape Town at the end of last season.
Sasman arrived at Chiefs at the start of pre-season as a free agent after being released by Ajax, where he had come through the youth academy before spending five years with the first team.

However, with his age having crossed the age restriction in the National First Division, the club decided to let go of him and he has since made the most of his opportunity to impress at Amakhosi.
In his three games thus far, the left-back has not only ensured he retains his place ahead of Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya but has since become a fan favourite.
“It’s been a wonderful experience for myself, I’ve been getting opportunities from coach Ernst and he’s been impressed with my hard work, and I deserve a place here in the Kaizer Chiefs setup.” said Sasman in his first interview since joining the club in August.
“It was a difficult time [after leaving Ajax], obviously not having a club, but luckily I got an opportunity to show my talent and express myself with the Chiefs setup, and they were impressed and welcomed me with open arms.”
Discussing how his move came about, the 23-year-old revealed how he had to book his own flight up to Johannesburg, though Chiefs provided for the rest of his stay during his trial.
“Well, it was actually the day before my birthday [July 31] that I got a phone call from my agent, saying that I need to be in Johannesburg the next morning – which was the day of my birthday,” he explained.
“I then booked myself a flight and I came over to Johannesburg, and I started pre-season camp with the team and, within the 10 days I spent there [in camp], I needed to impress.
“Basically, coach Shaun [Bartlett] and coach Ernst didn’t know me at all, so within that period I basically had to prove myself and secure my spot in the team.
“Well, they obviously followed me and watched a few games of mine in the PSL – I had some video footage on YouTube and things, and they were impressed.
“I also sent some videos to them before coming on the trial, so, yeah, they were happy, and I needed to come and prove myself and express my football abilities here.”
