Upon becoming a member of Santiago Solari's first XI over the last month, several of his teammates and Spanish media has lauded the teenager as the future of Los Blancos.
And now in an interview with Esporte Interativo, the 18-year old forward who joined Real from Flamengo in a reported £54.90m transfer revealed his admiration for his compatriot, whom he considers his idol.
"At Real Madrid or for the national team, I want to play with Neymar," said Vinicius.
"I want to play alongside him. I followed him from when he was young and he started at Santos."
Also discussed in the interview was the pressure that is associated with playing for a club of the stature of Real Madrid, following his time at Flamengo in Brazil.
"The pressure is very similar," he said, "They are two of the biggest clubs in the world."
Since officially joining the club in the off-season, Vinicius has scored six goals and registered 10 assists in 23 outings across all competitions for the first-team and reserve team.
