Benzema maintained his rich vein of form when he found the back of the net against Huesca in a La Liga game played at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The bottom-placed side were the 34th opponent the Frenchman has scored against, a record that neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Lionel Messi have matched.

Benzema now holds the record, beating former Real and Atletico striker Hugo Sanchez striker, who has scored against 33 different top-flight opponents.

Messi has scored again 37 of 40 teams, failing to net against Cadiz, Murcia and Huesca.

While Los Blancos club-record scorer Ronaldo netted against 32 of 33, with only Leganes keeping him out.

Benzema has now made 33 goal contributions (23 goals, 10 assists) in 46 games this season as the club's leading number 9.
