Renewed England interest for Mbele

Mbele currently plays for Al-Hilal who downed United 3-2 in a rare one-off exhibition match on January 21 at the King Fahd Stadium.

In that match Mbele produced a Man of the Match display that has suddenly evoked interest from has been informed by Mbele’s agent Bajo Bujani that the former Orlando Pirates striker, who has only been with the Saudi club since November 2007 has attracted growing interest.

“There have been a couple of enquiries coming from English club representatives who watched that match between Al Hilal and Manchester United. It is not interest from United, but other English clubs,” reveals Bujani.

“Obviously, we will closely monitor the situation going into the June-July transfer market, but what will matter is the money offered.

“At the moment Lelo is on a very good salary in Saudi Arabia and is happy that he is playing, but Europe is the best market for a player.

“Remember Lelo moved for R10-million million from CS Sfaxien where he also just spent a couple of months,” says Bujani.

Mbele scored his first goal for the Riyadh-based club in a 2-0 win over Al Ittifaq 11 days after signing his deal. He is reported to be currently earning around R175 000 a month.

Al-Hilal are currently second on the Saudi League standings though they have two games in hand.Prior to Mbele’s move to Saudi Arabia there had also been interest from French club PSG who were however slow in acting.

It is also believed that several French clubs have been monitoring the 20 year-old striker who will easily adjust to France as he is French-speaking.
