Giggs recently announced his departure from Old Trafford after a 29-year stay, both as player and assistant coach, and has since signed up to play in India's Premier Futsal League.
The 42-year-old has followed his former teammate Paul Scholes, 41, in his decision to come out of retirement, and joins the likes of ex-Argentina striker Hernan Crespo, 41, and Brazil star Ronaldinho in the inaugural edition of the indoor football league in Asia.
Former Real Madrid defender Michel Salgado, 40, and ex-Portguese midfielder Deco, 38, have also been confirmed as participants in the campaign, while Ronaldinho has been named the marquee player of the PFL.
The 36-year-old former Barcelona talisman has been without a club since leaving Brazilian side Fluminese in September last year but refused to hang up his boots.
The league is set to kick-off this Friday, July 15, and will run until July 26.
