Amajita Under-20 progress pleases Danny Jordaan

This comes following Amajita’s 2-0 victory over Ethiopia in a 2015 African Youth Championship qualifier in Addis Ababa on Sunday.
Speaking during the arrival of Amajita from Ethiopia at OR Tambo International Airport this afternoon, Danny Jordaan said that it was a very important win for the youngsters and he was very encouraged by the team.
“It a was crucial victory, it's not easy to win away from home in Africa and in Addis it's quite high up, it must been a huge challenge for the Under-21 team.

"But this is the team that won the Cosafa Cup so we are encouraged that they have continued with their progress and to have a two-goal advantage away from home will help us in the second round at home, and that’s very important,” he said.
Jordaan adds that the main target for Amajita is to reach the Youth Championship and also be able to qualify for the Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand next year.
“Of course when they win it is one more step to the African National Youth Championship in Senegal and they will probably play Cameroon, and if we beat them we will be in.
“Out of the eight teams that will go to the CAF Youth Championships three teams will go to the Under-20 World Cup. That’s where we want to go but for now we are very happy the team managed to beat Ethiopia in Ethiopia. Bafana couldn’t do what they have done.
“It shows the character of this team and then we wait for the return match in South Africa then one more bridge to cross to the African Youth Championship, then the World Cup.
“So we want to wish the team and Shakes [Mashaba] the very best and may they continue to grow with the team.”
