With Mihlali Mayambela set to return to football in the coming days, we take a look at some other South African stars who have played in Israel over the years, including five former Bafana Bafana internationals.

Mayambela currently plies his trade on loan at Bnei Yehuda, having joined from Farense in January, and made five appearances before the 2019/20 season was temporarily suspended in March due to the coronavirus.

The campaign is set to return this weekend following a three-month lay-off, giving Mayambela the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of some of South Africa's biggest names to have graced Israel's various leagues.

Among them are former Bafana Bafana internationals Thembinkosi Fanteni, Dino Ndlovu and Tsepo Masilela, all of whom turned out for Israeli Premier League giants Maccabi Haifa during their respective careers.
