Bongani Zungu 'ready' for LaLiga move after two-year Ligue 1 stint

Zungu, 27, was denied a switch to Real Mallorca in January after his Ligue 1 club Amiens failed to secure a replacement on transfer deadline day.

It was the latest blow to his ambitions of playing football in LaLiga, having previously been strongly linked with a switch to Barcelona-based club Espanyol.

After five seasons since leaving Sundowns, the technically gifted midfielder concedes it's time for a new challenge to further his development.

"I think the club understands and they know that I'm looking to spread my wings, to get a new challenge, and to be honest, I'm ready for that," Zungu told GetFrenchFootballNews.

"But you don't know what the future holds. I love the club; the president is amazing, and the fans…But personally, I would like to move on with my career, and hopefully, it happens.

"I would love to play in Spain, in La Liga. I think the league is nice, the teams play football, and yeah, I would like to hopefully get a club in Spain."

Despite the drama and disappointment of his move failing whilst he was already in the city of Mallorca, Zungu's ambitions of playing at the highest level of club football remains a burning desire.

"Honestly, I don't know if you heard…I almost left in January. I would like to play in the Champions League or maybe one day play in England. I don’t know, you never know!

"So, play in the Champions League, play in England or in La Liga in one of the big teams."
