The Bafana Bafana attacker could soon join compatriot Lyle Foster at Turf Moor, having previously worked under Kompany at Anderlecht.

The 28-year-old's contract at Al Ahly expires in June 2024, with the Red Devils reportedly keen to tie the South African down to a new deal.

"Al Ahly want to keep Percy Tau beyond his current contract," a source close to the situation reveals to KickOff.

"The club are aware of the interest in Europe and want to tie him down to a new contract as soon as possible.

"There is also new interest in Belgium with Anderlecht watching the contract situation between the player and Al Ahly closely.

Tau will next do battle for Bafana Bafana against Liberia in a crucial Afcon qualifier in Monrovia on Tuesday.

Kick-off is at 18:00.
