Johnson backs Tau to continue thriving at Al Ahly

The Egyptian Red Devils have booked their spot in a third consecutive CAF Champions League final with Tau facing the chance to lift his second continental crown.

"He is a clever player and an intelligent person who has a degree," Johnson tells KickOff.

"Football's been his job for a very long, long time now. It's the same if you were to talk about Lucas Radebe, Steven Pienaar and Benni McCarthy,

"They've been into no man's land and have survived.

"I don't doubt that Percy Tau will be able to survive in Egypt, football is football all over the world

"We always think about the North Africans like this and like that, they are the same as South Africans.

"The problem is they've got a bigger culture, they've got bigger history than ours.

"They've got teams that are 110 years old we've got no team like that...the oldest team we have AmaZulu it's 85 years old, and AmaZulu they have not been stable for 85 years.

"Look at Real Madrid they've been stable for 90 years, we got to still learn that.

"Percy, he's got a good head on his shoulders, he didn't sit back and not finish school, he went to go study for his degree.

"That makes him be able to survive and to be able to know what he wants as a professional because in football you need to be professional.

"And I think he really enjoys playing football."
