Kamohelo Mokotjo secures dual citizenship ahead of Bafana Bafana friendlies

accreditation

Mokotjo is once again able to represent Bafana upon the reissuing of his South African citizenship from Home Affairs on Friday afternoon.

The FC Twente anchorman renounced his birth nationality upon acquiring Dutch citizenship through naturalisation in December last year, making him ineligible to represent the national team despite previously turning out for Bafana and the junior national teams.

The association were thrown into disarray upon learning that the 26-year-old no longer held a SA passport, and had to find ways to get him the necessary documentation to be fielded in an official match.

The Department of Home Affairs were eventually called in to try and fast-track the process, with the minister approving Mokotjo's urgent application to reacquire his SA nationality in time for Saturday's meeting with the African Wild Dogs.
