The Rennes attacker has been invited as the French president’s guest of honour at his official residence, known as the Elysee Palace, where he is set to welcome President Zuma to the country.

“On the occasion of the state visit of Jacob Zuma, President of the Republic of South Africa, in France next week, Kermit Erasmus will visit the Elysee Palace,” read a statement on the club’s official website.

“The South African striker from Stade Rennais FC is one of the guests of honour of President François Hollande.”

The 26-year-old has yet to establish himself in the Rennes first team, having made just two Ligue 1 substitute appearances last season but also turned out for the reserve team, where he bagged a solitary goal.
