Percy Tau appears set to remain with Al Ahly until at least the January transfer window after the PSL Deadline Day came and passed on Thursday.

Tau had been widely linked with a move away from Egyptian giants Al Ahly in recent weeks with South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates all tenuously credited with an interest in his services throughout the transfer window.

However, with the Bafana Bafana star still recovering from a long-term injury, a move back home failed to materialise before the PSL registration period closed at midnight on Thursday.

Both Pirates and Chiefs had gone so far as to distance themselves from a move for the former Sundowns star who on the surface appeared to be out of options upon the transfer window shutting due his uncertain status in Egypt.

This appears not to be the case, though, as new Al Ahly coach Marcel Koller has reportedly made it clear that Tau is part of his plans and that the 28-year-old will have until the January transfer window to cement his place.

That is according to Egyptian journalist Mohamed Shabana who made the claims on the Box to Box television segment, and who revealed further that the forward could even feature in the club's upcoming friendly against Tala'ea El Gaish.

Al Ahly get their 2022/23 campaign underway early next month when they take on Tunisia's US Monastir in the first leg of their CAF Champions League Second Round qualification encounter.
