Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau has earned high praise from his former manager ahead of Club Brugge's UEFA Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
Tau, 25, has emerged as a key figure for the Belgian First League A leaders since joining them on a season-long loan from Brighton after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
This after winning the Proximus Player of the Year award with Royal Saint Union Gilloise in his debut season in Europe.
And Luka Elsner, the manager whom he worked under during his impressive spell in the Belgian second-tier, has heaped praise on his 2019/20 exploits.
"He deserves it," Elsner told RTBF. "With us, he always gave everything, whether in practice or in matches.
"There is really a joy when you see him evolve like this. He is an adorable boy and an extremely talented player.
"But in terms of quality, it's not a surprise for us, it went very fast but I hope he continues like that to greater heights."
Elsner, who now coaches Tau's international teammate Bongani Zungu at Ligue 1 side Amiens, feels the challenge of PSG is massive - but Tau and co can draw inspiration from their display against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.
"The momentum is positive on the side of Paris Saint-Germain, even with a few absences. As soon as they are concerned, concentrated and competitive, it becomes very complicated for all teams to navigate against them.
"You have to make them doubt at one point of the match and seize the opportunity when it comes in.
"It's a bit like what Percy Tau and his teammates managed to do in Madrid. A little moment in every game where you can seize the opportunity, but in any case, it will be difficult."
Tau has scored three goals and registered five assists in 13 games across all competitions this season.
