Earlier this week, the Egyptian Football Association announced that Queiroz had been hired as the Pharoahs' new head coach, with his appointment to the top job coming just two days after Hossam El Badry was relieved of his duties.

The 68-year-old most recently held a similar role with Colombia which ended in December 2020, while his CV also includes spells with Portugal (twice), South Africa, the United Arab Emirates and Iran on the international stage.

He was previously linked with a second crack at the Bafana Bafana job prior to Hugo Broos' appointment but has now joined the North African giants instead, a move that has pleased former national team coach Mosimane.
