Al Ahly's plans to offload Percy Tau during the transfer window appear to have hit a snag after the Bafana Bafana star was once again struck down by injury, with his latest setback set to see him sidelined for the foreseeable future.
Reports from Egyptian publication Al-Masry Al-Youm have revealed that Tau has suffered a serious injury to his back which could see him ruled out of action for around three months.
It is reported that the former Mamelodi Sundowns star will next travel to Qatar where he will undergo further medical examination and treatment at the renowned Qatari Aspetar Academy to aid his recovery.
News of the latest setback comes just days after a potential move for Tau to join French Ligue 2 side Le Havre collapsed, although it is possible that the 28-year-old could the topic of transfer l be out of action in the coming weeks.
He was previously linked with a return to South Africa but could now remain in Egypt with reports claiming that Al Ahly are open to loaning him out to a rival club in the domestic top-flight ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Tau's injury remains a sticking point with the new campaign set to get underway on 15 October as, given the timelines on his recovery, he is likely to only return to the pitch towards the end of the year.
