Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Nyasha Mushekwi continues to send reminders about his scoring abilities as he moves towards completing yet another season of double figures on the scoring charts.
Mushekwi has negotiated his way to amongst the top five scorers in the Chinese Super League with eleven goals for Zhejiang Professional.
Three Brazilians who include leading scorer Marcao (20 goals) and Chinese forward Yuning Zhang are head of Mushekwi on the scoring charts.
With Mushekwi’s goals, Zhejiang Professional have moved up to fourth on the standings and within sight of third place which carries the ticket of Asian Champions League qualifiers football.
The Zimbabwean forward’s 11 goals have come from 22 appearances with his form having peaked in the last seven games during which he has scored five goals.
Last season, Mushekwi scored 23 as Zhejiang won promotion from the Chinese League One.
He is also now the club’s all-time top scorer despite having joined three years ago.
Since leaving his homeland to play in the PSL (2010/11) at Sundowns, Mushekwi has been on double figures on nine occasions playing in South Africa, Sweden, and China.
He scored 15 goals in his first season at Sundowns playing under Antonio Lopez Habas and Ian Gorowa.
Then in his second, he was on 19 before dropping to six as the club struggled their way to a bottom-half finish.
The left-footed forward was then frozen out for the next season before leaving for Belgium.
From 2015 to 2019 he was in double numbers on the scoring charts playing in Sweden where he went on to reach double numbers for Djurgardens IF and then Dalian Professional in China.
In the last two years, he has also gone over the 10-goal mark proving that he remains effective despite being 35.
