Sammy Troughton will remain with Vasco da Gama for the coming campaign

Troughton joined Vasco in March following his sacking by University of Pretoria at the beginning of the year as the club battled to stay up.

He has now been handed a new deal to stay on with the NFD outfit that finished only two places above the drop-zone last season.

“I am staying with the club. We had a discussion and they made a proposal so with the potential that we have here we have come to an agreement that I continue and it is good that this time I will be doing pre-seaosn with the club," Troughton tells KickOff.com.

"I have been given a limited budget which means I have to be patient in the recruitment of players yet also be aware that there are expectations that come with that.

"I will need about 10-12 new players for the new season as some have left and I have already been in discussions with the players that I have targeted.”

Vasco will start pre-season next Monday and despite all reports about possibly moving to Tshwane they will remain in Cape Town for now.
