Santos draw with Thanda

accreditation

Santos started the game assertively, and after a good shot from a difficult angle by Ryan Chapman, the visitors were awarded a penalty after Romano Scott was brought down by Japie Motale in the area.

Eleazar Rodgers made no mistake in slotting the ball home to make it 1-0 after only 6 minutes.

Thanda came back strongly, and challenged The People’s Team for an equaliser, with Serge Djiehoua and Felix Obada both testing Santos keeper Wayne Roberts, but the scoreline remained unchanged at the break.

Thanda kept up the pressure in the second half, and were finally rewarded in the 71st minute when Serge Djiehoua fired home from a tight angle, using his body well to beat defender Zvenyika Makonese.

And the home side could have made it 2-1 in the 81st, but Obada failed to connect with a Scara Ngobese chip.

Santos ended the game with a late spurt of pressure, but Rodgers and Mogogi Gabonamong were unable to get their attempts on target and the game ended a draw.

The point takes Thanda two points clear of Black Leopards, who lie 15th with 23 points.
