Santos hammer Swallows

Ian Gorowa’s side lost 3-0 to Orlando Pirates on the resumption of the League after Africa Cup of Nations and he will have plenty of work to do, especially with his defence, if they are not to be sucked into the bottom half of the table.

Santos, on the other hand, continued a run that saw them defeat AmaZulu 3-2 at the weekend and were rampant in front of goal.

Erwin Isaacs opened the scoring from the penalty-spot after 33 minutes as Bevan Fransman fouled Eleazar Rodgers in the Swallows penalty area.

And it was 2-0 on 51 minutes as Mogogi Gabonamong netted a rare goal, and then followed that up 10 minutes later with a second from Romanao Scott’s pass as the visitors took complete control of the game.

Swallows were handed a lifeline two minutes later when the free-scoring Zambian hitman James Chamanga pulled one back with a header from Sibusiso Themba’s leftwing cross.

But Santos had the final say when substitute Thando Mngomeni sealed win and continued the good start for The People’s Team under new coach David Bright.
