Both players had upset team coach Samson Siasia and the rest of the squad by failing to show up for previous qualifiers, but Siasia told KickOffNigeria.com that the issue had now been laid to rest.

“They are young boys and they have apologised. After speaking to them, I believe they have learnt their lessons,” he stated. “It is time for us to move on and their invitation letters are being faxed now as we speak.”

With the Super Eagles coaching position still up in the air, Siasia disclosed that his team was being prepared with an eye towards the 2010 World Cup.

“We are working towards the 2010 Nations Cup and World Cup and these are the players that we expect to form the core of that team so we have to get them playing together as early as possible.

“That is why it is important for us to qualify for the Olympic Games and do well there.”
