Sinkala's chances of playing in Nations Cup dwindle

Team manager Solly Pandor discloses that despite being discharged from hospital, the player is still unwell.

Pandor said coach Patrick Phiri and the technical bench were waiting for the medical report to establish the player’s availability for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations and that Sinkala would not join the team until it is established he is fit for the tournament that kicks off on January 20.

“During a stop over in Germany, we had the chance to talk to Andrew. He is out of hospital and recovering well at his home. He says he still wants to recover fully,” Pandor said.

Sinkala is in Phiri’s 24-member team submitted to the Confederations of African Football list. Under-23 midfielder Francis Kasonde has however, been asked to travel to Spain as a possible replacement.

The former FC Cologne player now with Paderborn 07 in Germany was last week hospitalised due to a chest infection and his prospects of playing in Ghana have dwindled.

Pandor said efforts to contact another Germany-based player Moses Sichone, who is also in Phiri’s plans did not yield any results.

Pandor said Bursaspor striker Collins Mbesuma, who plays in Turkey and France-based forward Jacob Mulenga are expected to join the team today.
