Stars take on Lesotho Correctional Services in their Preliminary Round, first leg, opener at Olympia Park in Rustenburg on February 16.

Coach Miguel Gamondi says he side is ready for, not only their first game in Africa, but also for their second competitive fixture since the 3-0 Absa Premiership victory over Santos on December 23.

“We are ready,” Gamondi told KickOff.com. “But first we have to start with Golden Arrows in the League next week. It’s important to win that game as it will act as a morale-booster for the game against the team from Lesotho.”

Gamondi adds that the club’s recent tour of Botswana has given his players a taste of playing against other African sides.

“We have done well in terms of preparing the team for the tournament in Africa and I think the trip to Botswana recently has helped a lot. My players know what to expect at international level.

“It’s also good that we have Cavann Johnson with us, as he also has international experience, having spent time with Sundowns during their campaign in Africa.”

Gamondi also confirmed that striker Simba Marumo is still out injured, while new Colombian striker Luis Robinson Ranteni has not been registered for the Champions League.
