Struggling Spurs rope in Ngomane

accreditation

Cyprian Maimane has been caretaker coach since the beginning of the year but has battled to find a winning formula.

Despite initially agreeing to assist the club on three days of the week, the 43-year-old Ngomane has gradually shown more commitment by attending training regularly though he has other commitments.

"At the moment Simon is the technical advisor at the club," says club boss Themba Mafu of the one-time Golden Arrows mentor.

"He is just assisting us and is not a full time coach with the club so he will not sit on the bench for now.

"If we decide to appoint a head coach, it cannot be Ngomane as he has other commitments. We are happy with the input that he has made in the time that he has been here with us. We are trying to put systems into place with the view to doing the right things," says Mafu.

A product of Ted Dumitru's School of Coaches, Ngomane had a short playing stint as a left winger at Dangerous Darkies under Walter Rautmann.

With his career ended, Ngomane qualified as a school teacher before taking up coaching for which he studied in Holland and Germany before landing a job at Safa as Director of Coaching.

However, of late, he has been away from mainstream coaching.
