The Brazilians have also scotched rumours that are seeking to secure the services of former Nigerian national team captain, Austin ‘JayJay’ Okocha for next season.

Speaking to snl24.com/kickoff after their 2-0 victory over FC Cape Town in the Nedbank Cup at the weekend, Sundowns’ media and communication manager Mahlatse Mphahlele laughed off reports linking D’Avray to the Chloorkop-based outfit.

“People are creating their own stories and I don’t know where they get such reports. I’m not undermining the coaching expertise of the man, but really there is no chance of D’Avray joining Sundowns next season.

“As far as Okocha is concerned, this is the first I have heard about it.

Regarding tomorrow’s Tshwane derby against Supersport United at Atteridgeville’s Super Stadium, Mahlatse said the Brazilians will not do their neighbours, who are gunning for the Absa premiership league title, any favours.

“We are also desperate for the three points because we want to qualify for a top eight position at the end of the season.”

Mahlatse also revealed that chances of injured Robyn Johannes, Fanyana Dhladhla and Brent Carelse recovering in time for the game against Matsatsantsa were very slim.

The trio missed the Brazilians’ Nedbank Cup game against FC Cape Town in Cape Town at the weekend.
