Sundowns without key trio for Congo clash

Speaking to Kick Off yesterday before jetting out to Kinshasa, club coach Gordon Igesund said all three players would not be available for selection for their crucial game against TP Mazembe and have been left behind.

“It’s a big blow for my team as all three players have been in good form this season. However, there is no reason to complain as I have a good team ready to deliver results in Congo.

“This is a crucial game for us; one that we need to win at all costs, but I am confident that we will come back with a good result.”

Igesund says he is not fooled by reports from the DR Congo that say TP Mazembe’s top striker Tresor Mputu is set to miss the game against the Brazilians due to injury.

“I don’t want to concentrate on those reports, but on my players. We also have injuries in our camp, however, I don’t have excuses; that’s why I am preparing a strong team for Saturday’s match.”
