snl24.com/kickoff has been informed by the club that the 24-year-old is set to undergo a comprehensive medical tomorrow (Thursday) after apparently showing enough qualities to be worthy of signing.
The right-footed central defender has been training with Thanda for the past two weeks.
“We are taking Banza for a thorough medical here in Durban on Thursday before the seal of approval is passed,” says team manager Thabani Gumede.
“Since he is a foreign player this is always advisable before we make a decision because we don’t want to have regrets about being stuck with someone who has a latent injury.
“Banza has enough qualities to warrant signing and that is why we are taking him for a medical. We will then take further steps after we get the medical test results back,” says Gumede.
Though Hussein has previously played in the Burundi national team he has not been called up for any of the games in the current 2010 World Cup\Afcon qualifiers.
Burundi, who are in Group 9, are already out of contention for qualification after getting just four points from five games.
If signed, Hussein will join fellow countryman Aime Kitenge, who is working as goalkeeper coach, at the club.
Thanda still have two foreign spaces open. Currently, the three foreigners registered on their books are Nigerian Felix Obada, Jonas Oketola of Benin and Ghanaian Ahmed Mohammed.
