After a bye on Tuesday, they recorded their second successive win on Wednesday afternoon – defeating The Dolphins of Limpopo 3-1 – to now top Group B Inland on goal difference.

Second on the log is the Free State’s Mafube United, who beat the hosts, City of Matlosana 1-0.

United and Stars meet today at 09h00 with the winners almost guaranteed a place in one of Saturday’s two semi-finals.

In the other Inland Group A there was more joy for Mpumalanga supporters as Batau FC knocked Soweto Panthers off their perch, with a solid 3-1 win, while Free State side Carara Kicks, continued their excellent form by beating Mothupi Birds 3-0.

Tebelo Mokokeng’s brace and Simphiwe Zwane’s single effort have put Kicks on top of their respective group on goal difference.

Kicks and Batau are due to clash at 15h00 today.

As far as the two coastal streams are concerned, Vasco da Gama are still one of the favourites after recording a 1-0 victory over Rangers in Group C, while Bush Bucks bounced back after a first-day defeat to knock William Pescot out of the competition yesterday. The score was 2-1.

Vasco and Bucks meet in a crunch encounter today at 11h00.

In Group D, Matatiele Professionals shot to the top of the table after thrashing Louisvale Pirates 5-2 and Island FC of KZN dented any chances Cape Town’s Mr Price Parkhurst had of remaining in the tournament when the two sides drew 2-2.

A victory for Pros today against Island will see them play the winner of Group C.
