While his protracted legal battle with Mamelodi Sundowns over what was ruled as a forged contract extension has been on-going, Torrealba went for a trial spell at the Ernst Middendorp coached Arminia Bielefeld in Germany.
He left there and jetted into South Africa late last week and was seen here on Friday.
A representative of the South American hitman in the country has told Kick Off that Torrealba has been offered a signing on fee worth in the region of R2-million with the Amakhosi, but he declined to reveal whether the player had met anyone from Naturena during his short visit before jetting off to his homeland again.
When Torrealba’s case came before Safa’s Appeal Board last week, it was postponed and documentation referred back to his legal representative, Michael Murphy, and Sundowns’ lawyers.
A two-week deadline was set, so it seems highly unlikely that the striker was here in that regard because even if the Appeal goes against him, he can still take the matter to arbitration.
Maybe there’s an out-of-court settlement in the air and he was here to be briefed by his legal team. But no-one is saying anything on that one.
If Torrealba had been here to sort out other personal matters relating to his previous sojourn in South Africa, a quick weekend visit would hardly have been adequate or an opportune time.
However, with the transfer window looming and the break in the League for the Afcon finals in Ghana, Torrealba could have matters settled so that he can earn his first salary since June.
This would also give Chiefs the chance to sort out their foreign quota problem, which, if they do, would open the door to a new home for the Venezuelan.
