Wits have parted ways with their star man, who has left to join PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns in a deal which saw Curthbert Malajila and Mogakolodi Ngele moving in the opposite direction.

It is believed that The Students are now lining up Under-23 international Ntshangase - currently in Swaziland with Lidoda Duvha for preseason – as their number one target to fill Vila’s shoes in Braamfontein.

"His name has been discussed,” a source told this website. “The club has identified Ntshangase as a capable replacement for Vilakazi.

"There has been some informal discussions with his representatives,” he added.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jabulani Shongwe could be edging closer to his move to Orlando Pirates.

Shongwe was spotted with Bucs' players who came to show support at Lucky Lekgwathi’s annual soccer tournament in Soshanguve on Sunday.
