Bidvest Wits take up one-year option on Elias Domingues Pelembe

Pelembe – who turns 33 in November – joined Wits at the beginning of last season after a much publicised ending to his time at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Wits have now confirmed that the exciting winger will remain at the club for at least another season, after a solid opening campaign in which he played regularly and provided his trademark twists and turns in attack.

“The club has exercised the option [on Pelembe's contract] and he is staying put,” a club official tells this website.

The former SuperSport United attacker last season managed 30 starts and two goals in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Malawian midfielder Gerald Phiri Jnr is back at the club after spending the first half of the year away on loan at Botswana giants Township Rollers.

Phiri’s registration with the league remains dependant on the issuing of his permanent residence, which he is still awaiting.
