The player’s agent Tim Sukazi says like any player his clients, Morena wants to grow and develop his game by joining one of the big clubs in the country but Celtic are not willing to lose the Under-23 international.

snl24.com/kickoff has learnt that the 22-year-old has been told by club management that he will not be sold during this transfer window.

“Celtic have a prerogative for the transfer of Thapelo Morena, the player is currently contracted to them and unfortunately he will need to honour his contract,” says Sukazi.

“Like any player he will want to grow and develop his game by joining a big club, but unfortunately it’s not in his hands, it is more in Celtic’s hands.”

Sukazi also confirmed that Chiefs and Sundowns are the two clubs seriously looking to sign Morena.

“It is well documented that Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns are interested in the player. Both clubs went as far as engaging Bloemfontein Celtic in the matter, but unfortunately the club was not prepared to sell,” Sukazi reveals.

Celtic media officer Sello Nduna says that Phunya Sele Sele are not a factory to manufacture players for other clubs, and Morena is integral to their ambitions for next season.

“Morena is our most prized asset. Our intention as a team is to challenge for the championship, to challenge for some silverware,” Nduna tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“We are not like a factory where we manufacture players and when they are on top of their game they just leave the team. We are an ambitious team as well. We are not going to sell for the sake of selling.”

Nduna says the PSL is now as competitive as ever and therefore clubs need to be smart when doing business.

“The three points are the same. You get three points against a big club, it’s not like you get eight points or nine points. For us we bought wisely. We bought committed players,” he concludes.
