DONE DEAL: BidVest Wits complete Darren Keet signing

Keet will provide competition for regular number one Moeneeb Josephs having been captured as a free agent after leaving Belgian side Kortrijk at the end of last season.

“Bidvest Wits are pleased to announce that they have reached agreement with former KV Kortrijk goalkeeper Darren Keet to join Bidvest Wits with immediate effect, and have concluded and signed an agreement with the player to that effect,” the club said in a statement.

Cape Town-born Keet made 59 starts for Wits before leaving for Belgium in 2011.

He established himself at Kortrijk and was named Player of the Season in the 2012/13 campaign by the club’s fans, making 142 starts during his time there.

He left the club at the end of the last campaign after failing to agree a new contract and was linked with a move to Major League Soccer in the USA.

He was included in the Bafana Bafana squad for the African Nations Cup qualifiers against Cameroon in May, but did not play.

A move back to the PSL will keep him in the eye of national team coach Shakes Mashaba with the 2018 World Cup in Russia two years away.
