Eric Tinkler granting Lennox Bacela no favours at Cape Town City

accreditation

Bacela is training with the new Cape club with the hope of signing a contract after relegated University of Pretoria decided against keeping him. The 33-year old worked under Tinkler at Orlando Pirates, but his former coach says there will be no favours based on their previous working relationship.

“He’s coming to training with us,” Tinkler tells snl24.com/kickoff. “We are having a look at him. I know him, I know him well. He will be assessed no different to the rest.

"He must be the same or better than what we currently have. We’ve given him an opportunity to prove himself but just because I know him, there are no favours.”

City are in serious need of player reinforcements after keeping only 14 of the players from the sold Mpumalanga Black Aces.

The club lost, amongst others, last season’s League top goal scorer Collins Mbesuma, who is rumoured to be heading to PSL newcomers Highlands Park.
