Booysen's agent Nicky Paiva says the 27-year-old also has other options following his surprise exit from the Team of Choice at the end of June.
"David had one session with Ajax so far but it's too soon to say anything," Paiva tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"Let's wait and see how things pan out as there are other options as well."
Booysen played close to a 100 matches for Maritzburg after joining them from Ajax in 2010.
Meanwhile, Urban Warriors goalkeeper Brandon Petersen is determined to win the battle for the number one jersey at Ikamva following Anssi Jaakkola's recent move to Reading.
The 21-year-old faces competition for game-time from South Africa U-23 keeper Jody February and Darren Johnson.
"I know it will be tough but I'm ready to step up and claim the number one jersey. Anssi is a quality keeper and it showed during his time at Ajax," says Petersen, who made his return from a lengthy knee injury late last season.
"He was worth at least 10 goals per season. I know I can fill his boots if given the opportunity as well.
"Jody is also a fantastic goalie and pushes me hard at training. We compete well without any issues. But my long layoff has helped me to build my mental aspect of the game.
"It was tough. To sit on the sidelines for so long was very frustrating. I needed to be mentally strong to overcome my injury and to regain my fitness.
"I have no doubt that I can instil that faith and confidence in the coach should I get the nod."
