Gauteng club monitoring Edward Manqele, no contract talks with Tshakuma Tsha Madzhivhandila yet

The 31-year-old Manqele, who arrived at Vhadau Vha Damani in August 2018 as a free agent, will see his contract with the National First Division side expire at the end of the season and has attracted interest from a PSL club.

"We haven't started negotiations yet," club official Livhuwani Madzuhe tells

"But he is one of those players which the coach is watching their performance now. Remember the coach has only about five games now with this team. I think about the end of next week he will give us the report about Manqele. But so far even the coach is also impressed with his performance.

"Remember we don't know what will be happening because for this season, we want to see our team in the PSL through the playoffs or through straight promotion. We don't know if we will be in the PSL or in the NFD.

"There are those players which we can earmark for the PSL and there are those which we can earmark for NFD. But now we still remaining with four games, they are must-win games. We cannot earmark a player if we don't know if we will be in the PSL next season or in the NFD.

"But the performance of Manqele I think the coach is also impressed with the way he is performing now. But it's something which we will get from the coach, the final report and recommendation. Because remember the coach is also new in our team, but so far out of five games he won four. For me he is a coach of the month in the NFD so far."

Asked for a comment, Manqele's agent Palesa Mkhize admitted that there was interest in his client.

"There were enquiries on how many seasons he has signed for and stuff. It was only one season, and for respecting TTM we won't say a lot about where is he going or not going," Mkhize adds.

"He has found his footing now, he is scoring goals, he is helping the team to win games. So far there's only one [team interested]. It's a team in Gauteng."

The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs forward has played 25 times in all competitions for the Venda-based side this season, scoring seven times including three in the Nedbank Cup.
