Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Khama Billiat focusing on performance rather than contract talks

The Zimbabwean has been linked with a move to Europe at the end of the season, with his current deal expiring in June next year.

And while Billiat harbours overseas ambitions, snl24.com/kickoff has learnt that Sundowns have already opened negotiations with the 26-year-old regarding extending his stay with the African champions.

“I always want to go play in Europe but you can only go there if you play well. You can't go there because of the contract coming to the end,” said Billiat.

“That doesn’t make sense because if you are not on top of the game you can still stay here without a contract. I still want to go overseas but I must work on my game first and not be looking at the contract.”

Billiat expects to soon make his return from injury, and is determined to regain the form that made him PSL Player of the Season in 2015/16.

“I believe [I can go to Europe] but my game can only determine my future. If I am not playing and injured I can't think of going overseas. So as long as I am playing well, I believe there are a lot of opportunities of going to Europe. So I need to work and focus not on my contract but my game,” concluded Billiat, who in February suffered a close brush with armed gunmen.
