According to Goal.com, De Sa's representative Steve Kapeluschnik has confirmed that his client has left the club due to "family issues".
"I don't know, and basically the agent, and whoever else is commenting, is unreliable. Tomorrow morning I'll be speaking to Roger myself and thereafter we'll see what the future holds."
snl24.com/kickoff initially broke the news that De Sa would join the Team of Choice in early January as a permanent replacement to Ernst Middendorp, who quit the club in November following a run of poor results.
However, the former Ajax Cape Town boss has had his own struggles in trying to turn Maritzburg's fortunes around, having won just one game in the seven he has so far overseen.
The Pietermaritzburg-based outfit are currently in 10th place on the Absa Premiership log, with 23 points from 21 games, and are just four points above the relegation zone.
De Sa has been previously linked with the vacant Bafana Bafana head coaching job, and with SAFA confirming an announcement is set to be made next week, the 52-year-old tactician could possibly be making way for his new appointment.
