Maritzburg United star Deolin Mekoa is eager for a move to one of the 'Big Three'

United chairman Farook Kadodia, who rejected offers during the off-season for the Bafana Bafana utility player, revealed that Sundowns have submitted an offer for Mekoa and the club is mulling it over.

The 23-year-old, who is in his third season with The Team of Choice having been promoted in 2014/15 by then-coach Steve Komphela, has netted two goals in 22 appearances this campaign.

"It's every player’s dream to play in the Big Three in the PSL," Mekoa says. "If I could move there it'll be a big achievement as a youngster because I always want to play for one of the big Gauteng sides. I'm working hard towards that and if it comes, I'll take it."

The School of Excellence graduate says he's not desperate to leave Maritzburg at the moment, but playing for bigger clubs will give him a better chance of national team call-ups.

"At the moment I'm not desperate and my focus is still here. I still have a contract," he adds. "But it’s everybody's dream to play in the Champions League. It's a very good competition with the exposure … it’s how [Keagan] Dolly got seen by Montpellier.”
