Ryan, 19, is set to join Chiefs after turning down a contract extension offer from Maritzburg.

Bryce, who has just joined United from Mpumalanga Black Aces, has ample experience of competing at the top level. Besides Downs, the 30-year-old has also represented Bafana Bafana, SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits, while he had a stint overseas with Greek side Panathinaikos.

Bryce feels it bodes well that his sibling worked under current Amakhosi coach Steve Komphela at the Team of Choice.

"Fortunate thing with him is that he's only 19 years old so he's fortunate. He's got time on his hands and yeah I don't think supporters will expect miracles from him at the beginning but they will expect to see what he's got.

"That is the most important thing when he gets his chance now and he can show them what he's got and that is when the pressure will come on when he shows them and they will want that every week.

"But I have faith in him; he's brilliant striker and he can score goals so I have a lot of faith in him."

Bryce says the family is proud Ryan is linking up with a club like Chiefs.

"Everybody is excited for him with the opportunity to play for Chiefs... it's not a small thing, it's a big thing. They are a big club, big history but we are all excited for him and we are happy for him."
