The player in question is Renars Rode, who plays for Sigma Olomouc in the Czech League.

The 27-year-old been tracked by Aces for a while, having been invited for trails in January. Ertugral decided not to sign him then, saying he didn’t want to invest so much money on the player midway through the season as he needed time to adapt to the PSL.

But now Ertugral, who is currently back in Turkey for holidays, says Aces have submitted a bid.

“Rode is on the transfer list and we have made an approach. We have given them the possibility [to sell] and we will see how it goes,” Ertugral tells snl24.com/kickoff from Istanbul.

“He cannot be signed at the moment as he is still playing in the Czech Republic, so he has the opportunity to stay there for Sigma Olomouc. But we are busy trying to get him and we have submitted a bid.”

Rode, who has won four caps for Latvia having made his debut in 2013, won the Virsliga in 2010 and 2014 in his homeland for Skonto FC and FK Ventspils.

He could be set to replace Siyabonga Ngubane, who is set to leave Aces at the end of the season.

Ngubane is currently on loan at University of Pretoria, but has reportedly made it clear he wants to leave Aces.
