City announced their latest signing on Wednesday morning, with the former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns man signing a two-year deal.

Having played for the likes of Golden Arrows, Maritzburg United and most recently AmaZulu, Johannes says he’s delighted to be back in the Cape.

“I am really excited for the opportunity to be back in my home town and playing for Cape Town City,” he told his new club. “I have been away from Cape Town since I was 14, and to come back here was also a big desire for me.”

Club owner John Comitis is delighted with the experience Johannes brings to his side, both on and off the field.

“We needed depth in the defence and Robyn has come to pre-season extremely fit and in excellent condition,” he said. “You cannot deny his experience and you can see his anticipation on the field. “He’s a player that has played many games in the PSL, and that’s the kind of team player you need in the squad, and in the change room.

“We didn’t hesitate to sign him when we saw the quality of football he was putting out at training.”

Johannes will hope to be in action for City’s first PSL game against Polokwane City on Tuesday, 23 August.
